The 2012 Pelosi GTxi SS/RT Sport Edition revisited

The time may have come around again for what was once billed as “the car of the future” by the gentleman who travels under the nom de guerre Iowahawk. In the video below Iowahawk touts the virtues of the 2012 Pelosi GTxi SS/RT Sport Edition. He seems to have drawn inspiration from automobiles manufactured under the eyes of the efficiency experts in the Communist paradises of old.

The video dates from the happy time when Iowahawk left his wit unconstrained by the discipline of 140 characters on Twitter (@iowahawkblog). He packs a lot of jokes into the video’s four minutes.

Watching the video reminded me of P.J. O’Rourke’s essay on the Yugo for Car and Driver back in the early ’80s. I thought at the time it was one of the funniest things I’d ever read, yet O’Rourke has never collected it in any of his books, not even the book that draws on his pieces for Car and Driver. At least we’ll always have the 2012 Pelosi GTxi SS/RT Sport Edition.
