Korb your enthusiasm
This afternoon I debated Lawrence Korb on the subject of the adminisration's response to Hurricane Katrina. The Voice of America will broadcast the debate on its "Encounters" program to a worldwide audience on Sunday, September 11.
Korb was an assistant Secretary of Defense in the first Reagan administration, but has become a fierce critic of the Bush administration. His ferocity, and to my mind unfairness, led to a vigorous debate. Like most critics of the federal effort, Korb did not want to talk about what the feds accomplished in a short period of time, much less to compare these accomplishments and the rapidity of the response to past relief efforts during less devastating hurricanes. Without such a comparison, any assessment of the overall quality of the federal effort is subjective and anecdotal.
I'll post the link to the debate when VOA sends it to me.
