Al Gore blamed the United States for world leaders' failure--otherwise mysterious, in Gore's eyes--to control the weather: "My own country, the United States, is principally responsible for obstructing progress here in Bali," said Gore, who flew to Bali from Oslo, Norway, where he received the Nobel Peace Prize for helping alert the world to the danger of climate change. One might assume, as Gore apparently does, that countries that subscribe to fine words in international declarations would be the ones that sacrifice their own standards of living in hopes of changing the weather. Well, no, of course, our readers aren't dumb enough to assume that. American Thinker has the numbers: One would think that countries that signed the Kyoto treaty are doing a better job of curtailing carbon emissions. One would also think that the United States, the only country that does not even intend to sign, keeps on emitting carbon dioxide at growth levels much higher than those who signed.
