Michael Ramirez is the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for Investor's Business Daily and former Claremont Institute Lincoln Fellow. Below is yesterday's cartoon. Apart from the conception of the cartoon, I love how recognizable the gentleman to the right is despite the surgical mask. The caption reads: "Don't worry, I have experience. I'm not a surgeon, but I was married to one for eight years." The cartoon appears to have been inspired by Patrick Healy's excellent New York Times article "The résumé factor: Those 8 years as First Lady." Healy writes of Ms. Hillary's vaunted White House experience: Mrs. Clinton did not hold a security clearance. She did not attend National Security Council meetings. She was not given a copy of the president’s daily intelligence briefing. She did not assert herself on the crises in Somalia, Haiti and Rwanda. In his December 26 post on Healy's article, Rusty Shackleford asked: "But wouldn't it be cheaper to hire the surgeon's spouse for your next operation?" Via Lucianne. UPDATE: AOL is using this post as the basis for today's "Hot Seat" poll; you can vote by clicking below. |
