Florentine nightmare
Fiorentina defeated Everton today 2-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Cup round of 16 clash. It looks like Everton was lucky not to lose by more, having been outshot by 17-1. How a club of our quality could get off only one shot in a 90 minute match is difficult to fathom. Fiorentina is an excellent side to be sure, but these days, we don’t get dominated like this even at the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
We still have a chance to overcome this deficit in the return leg at Goodison Park next week, but it’s not going to be easy.
