The leading suspect in the 2001 anthrax attack has committed suicide. Bruce Ivins, a military anthrax researcher who worked at the biodefense laboratory in Maryland that has long been a focus of suspicion, was about to be indicted in connection with the attack. Ivins' suicide probably warrants the inference that he was guilty; in any event, the investigation presumably will now be concluded and the case regarded as solved. To comment on this post, go here. |
