More on the Mondale/Coleman debate: Our faithful reader Gene Allen has a higher threshold for pain than I do, and was therefore able to stick with the debate longer than I did. Gene writes us as follows:
“Coleman did a good job tying Mondale to Jimmy Carter and the past (‘welfare was a good idea when the vice president worked on it a long time ago…’) and reminded voters of the 24 percent interest rates, double digit inflation and gas lines when Mondale was vice president.
