The recent hunting down and prosecution of members of the Symbionese Liberation Army for the 1975 murder of Myrna Opsahl during a bank robbery is an inspiring example of dogged law enforcement. We have written about the role of Minnesota’s own Kathy Soliah/Sara Jane Olson in the SLA and the Opsahl murder; see the “Kathy’s Clowns” link on the left. Today William Harris, the ringleader of the bank robbery, was sentenced to seven years in prison under a plea agreement. He is shown below apologizing to the surviving members of the Opsahl family. At a time when our government is committed to tracking down and destroying terrorists, its persistence in bringing these SLA members to justice sets a good example.
