Civil Liberties Trampled Again

A Middle Eastern man named Ahmed Helmy Mostafa was observed taking photographs of the Norris Dam hydroelectric station twenty miles north of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 4:00 on Sunday morning. He and a companion were observed and questioned by a Tennessee Valley Authority police officer who recorded their identities, but “they weren’t breaking any laws so he couldn’t detain them,” according to a TVA spokesman. The FBI is now searching for Mostafa and his brother; both apparently obtained Virginia drivers’ licenses fraudulently. Is this a great country, or what? I mean, there are all kinds of legitimate reasons why illegal Arab immigrants might want to photograph a dam at 4:00 a.m. It’s good to see the authorities aren’t jumping to conclusions.
