Present at the destruction

At last a conservative magazine has commissioned one of its star writers to think through the problem of the United Nations. David Gelernter is a professor of computer science at Yale, but he is a modern version of a Renaissance man. His article in the Weekly Standard out this morning should initiate a discussion that is long overdue: “Replacing the United Nations.”
The Standard has also made available William Kristol’s editorial on the replacement of Saddam Hussein: “The imminent war.”
On a related subject, the Washington Post’s Jim Hoagland has a column out this morning that is mandatory reading. The column strongly suggests links between Saddam Hussein and 9/11: “Ask the viper.” Don’t miss it.
