Peace in a few days

I’ve been working all day in my office just off of DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C. I just went out to get some air and was surprised to see a peace rally occurring in the circle. It was a fairly pitiful affair with maybe 200 demonstrators. From across the street I could barely hear what they were chanting. It was the familiar, juvenile, “What do we want, peace; when do we want it, now.” If they could amend the second half to “when do we want it, in a few days,” their desire might be realized.
