General Rove?

Liberals hate Karl Rove in much the same way that they detested Lee Atwater years ago. That is, they dislike him because he is effective, and because he is an unapologetic conservative. Liberals are always looking for an opportunity to claim that Rove, in addition to being a political adviser, is responsible for Bush administration policy decisions.
This New York Times piece by Adam Nagourney and Richard W. Stevenson is a classic of the genre. The article’s first sentence and the first word of the second sentence tell the story: “The White House portrays Karl Rove, President Bush’s most influential political adviser, as playing no role in military decisions that are shaping the Bush presidency.
Needless to say, the Times offers no evidence of Rove playing any role whatsoever in military decision-making.
