A shining hideousness

Earlier this week, Britain’s Guardian ran an excellent piece on Saddam Hussein’s taste in art: “Look at the size of those missiles.” The author of the column is the Guardian’s art critic and he compellingly observes that, as in the case of Hitler, “Poor aesthetic judgment is an archetypal part of [Hussein’s] wretchedness.” (Courtesy of No Left Turns.)
I would guess that the Assads possess a similar art collection, and I sincerely hope we get to see it sometime soon. In the meantime, in his New York Post column this morning, Amir Taheri exposes “Syria’s and Iran’s sabotage plans.”
