Scenes from the Front

Courtesy of Army Times, here are some scenes from the last 48 hours in Iraq:
A two-year-old Iraqi girl hands a flower to an American soldier.

Twenty-six purple hearts are about to be awared to wounded GI’s by Lt. Gen. William Wallace.

Soldiers in northern Iraq cross paths with a shepherd mounted on a donkey and his sheep.

I chose these pictures largely for their aesthetic value, but I also think each of them says something important about our mission in Iraq.
