Bombings in Saudi Arabia

At least ten Americans are among those killed yesterday in Saudi Arabia, with the death toll almost certain to rise. Three car bombs detonated almost simultaneously, and a fourth went off shortly after. The bombings were carried out by suicide attackers, and show the power of even low-tech terrorist attacks. The death toll would have been much higher but for the fact that the communities that were struck are gated and guarded. American officials are saying the attacks bear the “earmarks” of al Qaeda, although there apparently is not yet any direct evidence linking that organization to the bombings.
