Getting away with murder

The jury returned its verdict yesterday in the third trial of Lemrick Nelson for the murder of Yankel Rosenbaum during the 1991 pogrom in Crown Heights. The jury found Nelson guilty of depriving Rosenbaum of his civil rights, but not of causing his death. The upshot is that Nelson stands to spend little additional time in prison: “Lemrick guilty.” Steve Dunleavy adds a few painful details to the story: “Smirk stabs at hearts of loved ones.”
