22 years of solitude

The Washington Post reports the remakable story of Jawad Amer Sayed, an Iraqi who hid for 22 from Saddam Hussein’s police inside a false wall he built between two rooms. Sayed, now 49, is a follower of the Dawa party, a Shiite Muslim group that battled Hussein for decades. He went into hiding after police arrested and executed two of his friends. Twice, the police came for Sayed but, as British soccer commentators like to say, the wall did its job.
