Polish Troops Head for Iraq

Over two thousand Polish troops have embarked for Iraq to join the security effort there. They will be part of a multinational unit that will administer a large portion of Iraq.
Addressing the departing troops, Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski said: “Democracy, liberty and respect for human rights would not have existed in Poland and in Central Europe if Western democracies had treated us with indifference 14 years ago. We have a duty to pay our political and moral debt.”
