A war that spilled into the pool

The Wall Street Journal’s editorial tribute to Herb Brooks mentions the 1956 Hungary-Soviet Union Olympic water polo match at the Melbourne summer games. Reader Peter Swanson alerted us to the Sport Illustrated flashback: “A bloody war that spilled into the pool.” Below is Ervin Zador, one of the heroes of the Hungarian team, immediately after the match.
