Al Gore: Not A Blogger

Al Gore gave a speech yesterday at Middle Tennessee State U.; it was broadcast to over 200 colleges. His topic: “Media and Democracy.” According to the Associated Press, Gore said that “the decline of newspapers as the country’s dominant method of communication leaves average Americans without an outlet for scholarly debate.” I think that “scholarly debate” means “liberal monopoly.” But remember when Gore was trying to pass himself off as a technology guru? It seems a bit odd that he fails to appreciate that the internet has given Americans an unprecedented opportunity not only to witness “scholarly debate” carried out by the likes of Paul Krugman and Maureen Dowd, but to participate in political debate, scholarly or otherwise, especially through blogs.
The photo below of Gore giving the Middle Tennessee speech reminds me how glad I am that he is more or less out of public life.
