We expressed our enthusiasm for the idea of “Let It Be…Naked” when it was announced that a new, stripped down version of the Beatles’ “Let It Be” album was going to be released this fall. Click here for our earlier comments.
Today is the release date of the “Let It Be…Naked” CD. The All Music Guide has already posted a knowledgeable review that expresses disappointment with the execution of the CD. The substance of the review is that the music is, so to speak, insufficiently naked: “‘Naked’ doesn’t set the record straight, it mu[ddies] the waters by presenting a third version of the sessions, one that is no more accurate than the original album.”
