Axis: Bold as hate

Michael Ledeen’s column in the Wall Street Journal today begins with the assertion that an Iranian envoy has arrived in Iraq to attempt to negotiate a resolution of the standoff with Muqtada al-Sadr. I have seen nothing to confirm the suggestion that the United States has consented to such negotiations on its behalf, and I have heard it denied by a representative of the CPA, but the rest of Ledeen’s article on Iran’s role in Iraq is informative: “The Iranian hand.” Today’s Boston Globe has a good article on the assassination of the Iranian diplomat in Baghdad yesterday and on the purpose of his mission: “Iranian murder fuels Iraq tensions.”
