Haaretz reports that Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi was killed in an Israeli helicopter missile strike on his car Saturday evening. This followed the killing of an Israeli Border Policeman and the wounding of three other Israelis in a suicide bombing for which Hamas jointly claimed responsibility with Fatah. So now those who claimed to be concerned that the killing of “moderate” Hamas leader Ahmed Yassin in a similar Israeli strike last month would cause the more militant Rantisi to assume control no longer have to worry about that.
