For What It’s Worth

The Sept. 11 Commission will finally issue its report tomorrow. I don’t expect any surprises. The only interesting thing I’ve heard about the report is that four of the five hijackers who boarded the American Airlines flight that attacked the Pentagon were pulled aside for security screening, and a video showing the terrorists making their way through security has been released. Here is a still from the video, as one of the terrorists gets “wanded.”:

The commission’s report will prompt finger-pointing in various directions, to little purpose. The only people to blame for terrorist attacks are the terrorists.
I do wish, however, that I had more confidence that if a group of Arab terrorists who kept setting off alarm detectors tried to board an airplane today, they would encounter more scrutiny than in the fall of 2001.
