A new voice worth listening to

David Schraub is a freshman at Carleton College in Minnesota. For the past four years, he was a star debater at the local high school here in Bethesda, Maryland, and a teammate of at least one of my daughters throughout. He has started a blog called The Debate Link. It’s less about debating than about promoting debate on key issues, particularly legal ones. For example, David’s going to cover a debate involving my former colleagues David Rivkin and Lee Casey over how to try suspected terrorists. He also has a good piece up on the Court of Appeals decision in United States v. Moussaoui.
Unfortunately for our side, David is still a liberal, though a much less leftist one than he used to be. Certainly his links — Power Line, Sullivan, Drezner, Volokh, etc — hardly reflect a predictable liberal outlook. David believes that conservatives have good reasons not to vote for President Bush, and I agree. The problem is that I can’t think of any good reasons for conservatives to vote for John Kerry.
In any case, David’s blog is well worth checking out.
