Michigan: Listen up to Coach

As fans of Minnesota Gopher football, covetous of the Little Brown Jug, we still celebrate the Gophers astounding 1977 victory over Bo Schembechler’s Michigan Wolverines at the old Memorial Stadium in Minneapolis. (The Gophers also pulled off a slightly less surprising victory over number two-ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1986.) In the course of the Gophers’ 20 lossses to Schembechler’s Wolverines between 1969 and 1990, we learned, shall we say, a healthy respect for Coach Schembechler. We hope Michigan voters are paying the attention to Coach Schembechler that his record has earned him: “Bush has proved himself a leader.”
