Official Report Says Saddam Bribed France, Russia

Some months ago, preliminary information was disclosed about government agencies and individuals, including journalists, who received bribes from Saddam Hussein through the U.N.’s “oil for food” program. In the meantime, the Iraqi government has been conducting an official investigation. The report resulting from that investigation has been leaked, and the resulting bombshell is reported on by the London Times:

The report largely implicates France and Russia, whom Saddam Hussein targeted as he sought support on the UN Security Council before the Iraq war. Both countries were influential voices against UN-backed action.
