The Weekly Standard has interrupted its normal weekend publication cycle to put out its new issue devoted to the election. You’ll want to check it out; it’s full of good stuff by our favorite writers. Be sure not to miss Professor David Gelernter’s “Truman beats Dewey! Again!!” Or Bill Kristol’s tribute to the president’s courage and audacity in (what else?) “Misunderestimated.”
Last week the Standard’s Katherine Mangu-Ward called me to ask about the Bush campaign’s 72-hour program in Minnesota. She anticipated coming to Minneapolis for election day and reporting on the operation. On Monday night she called me to let me know that she had instead been dispatched to Columbus to cover the operation in Ohio. She was therefore perfectly positioned to cover what turned out to be the election’s ground zero, which she does in “Litigate this!”
