Ready to lead

Convicted PLO murderer Marwan Barghouti has thrown his hat in the ring of the race to succeed to the mantle of Yasser Arafat: “Barghouti to run after all, wife says.” Before he took up residence in an Israeli prison, Barghouti was a senior Fatah official and the leader of the Tanzim militia.
In December 2004 Barghouti was convicted in the Tel Aviv District Court of the murder of five Israelis and the planning of four terror attacks, including the suicide bombing in Tel Aviv
