The mordant 1982 album by Richard and Linda Thompson documenting the breakup of their marriage is titled “Shoot Out the Lights,” and one of the album’s highlights is their jointly written song “Did She Jump or Was She Pushed?” John Podhoretz’s New York Post column today brings that song to mind.
Podhoretz is not one of those who “misunderestimates” President Bush. In his column, he draws inferences regarding President Bush ‘s political character from the spate of cabinet resignations following the election: “Dubya: A ruthless, elegant president.”
UPDATE: Thanks (and apologies) to the many readers who wrote regarding the broken link to Podhoretz’s column. It should be working now.
