Verily, the sight of his epistles to Nina was not pleasing in the eyes of Saint Nick. His epistles lacked the largeness of spirit that Saint Nick wished readers to see in him, and that he saw in himself, through the beam in his own eye.
Lo, his epistles not only belied the high regard in which he held himself, they also lacked the charity he professed to the meekest among us. Rather than look inward, however, Saint Nick turned outward and blamed his supplicant Nina:
Do you crawl on your belly? Or just hissssss?

The wrath of Saint Nick was terrible to behold, and infirm was his judgment. For the malediction he cast on his supplicant condemned him by its own terms.
