Bush to Damascus: Get out

In his interview with the New York Post editorial board, President Bush speaks with great clarity of his demand that Syria remove itself from Lebanon prior to the elections slated in May: “Bush to Syria: Scram.” The Post headline writer faithfully conveys the gist of Deborah Orin’s startling account of the interview. I’m reminded of the 1975 New York Daily News headline that unfairly translated President Ford’s refusal to bail out the city from its financial woes: “Ford to City: Drop dead.” (Courtesy of Lucianne.)
