We have reported several times on the murder of the Armanious family in Jersey City, New Jersey. Mr. Armanious was a Coptic Christian who had engaged in online debates with Muslims and had been threatened by them, so suspicion fell on radical Islamists when the family was found murdered in their home. Yesterday, local prosecutors announced the arrest of two men, one of whom lived above the Armaniouses. The New York Post reports.
Thankfully–I guess–the crime was not religiously motivated. The killers (there doesn’t appear to be any doubt about their guilt) were Edward McDonald and Hamilton Sanchez, two low-life drug dealers who were desperate for money. “It was a robbery gone horribly wrong,” Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said yesterday. The story of the killers’ incomprehensible cruelty is heartbreaking.
