We and many others have complained about Hollywood’s inadequate response to Sept. 11 and the war on terror. Today, Variety reported that Universal will begin production on a film about Flight 93 in October. The movie will be directed by Paul Greengrass, who made such movies as Bloody Sunday and The Bourne Supremacy. Greenglass says the movie will tell the story of Flight 93 in real time and will be show with hand-held cameras for a “gritty” feel.
I don’t have much confidence in Hollywood’s ability to get these issues right, but it would be pretty hard to go wrong–just about impossible, in fact–with the story of Flight 93.
