Coney Island Baby

Today’s New York Daily News carries a story regarding the disappearance and potential discovery of the remains of Judge Crater: “Judge Crater found?” The Daily News story recalls that Judge Crater has been known as “the most missingest man in America.” The sick graffiti of the 1960’s included one that read: “Judge Crater, call your office.”
In any event, the Daily News story seems to hold great potential as a Geraldo Rivera special. Lou Reed’s “Coney Island Baby” would be the perfect theme song:

…remember that the city is a funny place
Something like a circus or a sewer
And just remember different people have peculiar tastes…

The refrain would be perfectly ironic:

And the — glory of love, the glory of love
The glory of love, might see you through
Yeah, but now, now
Glory of love, the glory of love
The glory of love, might see you through.

UPDATE: Our friend Peter Swanson reminds us of this 2004 Daily News article on the back story to “Coney Island Baby”: “Court and spark: Boys and girls together down at Coney Isle.”
