We had a lot of fun at our first Power Line Movie Night here in the Twin Cities last week. Scott and I are going to be in New York for a few days, so we have arranged with Warner Brothers for a private screening of the new George Clooney film, Good Night and Good Luck, on Thursday evening. The movie, filmed in black and white, is about Edward Murrow’s contributions to the destruction of Joe McCarthy. I think we’ve heard this story before: heroic reporter vs. evil Republicans. Still, we’re keeping an open mind, and if the movie is unfair, we’ll say so.
The screening is open to the first 80 Power Line fans who sign up. It will be at a theater on the Upper East Side and will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, that’s day after tomorrow. If you want to attend (for free), send an email to [email protected] and let us know how many seats you want. It will be first come, first served. We’ll respond with an email giving you more specific directions. You should plan on arriving 20 to 30 minutes ahead of time, as there will be someone from Warner Brothers checking off names.
We are sharing this screening with some folks from Salon, so the audience will be mixed. Scott and I will be there, and are looking forward to meeting some of our readers in the New York area. The idea, of course, is for us to review the film and help generate publicity, whether good, bad or indifferent.
