About That CBS Poll

CBS has a new poll out that trumpets an all-time low job approval rating for President Bush. Fortunately, we now have analysts like our friend Tom Bevan of Real Clear Politics who know how to read polls. Tom reports that CBS “weighted” their sample so it included an appropriate number of Republicans. That is, a whopping 23.8%.

Let’s see: we have a Republican President, who was re-elected with the most votes ever cast for a Presidential candidate, a Republican House and a Republican Senate; but poll results should be weighted on the assumption that only 23.8% of the population are Republicans? Right.
