Bush to Address Nation On Iraq

President Bush has asked the networks for twenty minutes of broadcast time on Sunday evening to address the country on Iraq, in the wake of the successful election there. It will be Bush’s first speech from the Oval Office since he announced the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Momentum has been flowing the administration’s way in recent weeks, in part because the Iraq war is going well. The Democrats chose a strange time, I think, to jump ship on the war effort and start talking surrender. They may be in somewhat the position of the cartoon character that walks off a cliff and keeps going for a few steps before falling like a stone. Howard Dean as Wile E. Coyote? It’s an entertaining thought. As usual, events are in the driver’s seat; but right now, President Bush’s policy is looking like a winner.

He looks a little like Howard Dean, doesn’t he?
