Cut-and-run lite

The Daily Standard has posted my latest column about the emerging Democratic political strategy regarding Iraq. Consistent with their perennial lack of seriousness about matters of national security, the Democrats are attempting for political purposes to split the difference between “cut-and-run” and “finish the job.” Thus, they are coalescing around a “cut-and-run lite” approach whereby we would fight until a certain pre-announced date or time frame and then quit, regardless of the facts on the ground. I doubt that any nation, has ever adopted such bizarre approach to warfare. But, as John Kerry proved in 2004, the Democrats are capable of previously unknown gyrations when it comes issues of war and peace.
