The return of Genghis John

In 1971 John Kerry touted the testimony of “150 honorably discharged, and many very highly decorated, veterans [who] testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia.” On Face the Nation last week, Kerry was partying like its 1971. Pittsburgh Tribune editorial columnist Dmitri Vassilaros takes note: “Genghis John rides again.”

Vassilaros contacted Kerry’s communications director for guidance in understanding Kerry’s comments on Face the Nation. In his column today, Vassilaros concludes that, although Kerry no longer refers to soldiers behaving in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, “Kerry has not come such a long way from 1971 after all.” (Courtesy of Lucianne and RealClearPolitics.)
