Ballots and bullets

With elections underway in the Palestinian Authority today, Daniel Pipes has a timely reminder: “Don’t deal with terrorists.” (In an email note, Pipes writes: “This article replies to USA Today’s house editorial, “Ballot box gains for Hamas pose dilemma for U.S., allies,” that argues in favor of prodding Hamas “to make its new image more than cosmetic.”)
At FrontPage, David Hornik has a primer on Hamas: “Hamas rising.” And the Jerusalem Post adds up a subset of the terrorist candidates vying for office in the Palestinian Authority today: “31 Palestinian prisoners running for PLC.” The Post reports: “Fatah’s Marwan Barghouti and West Bank Hamas leader Sheikh Hassan Yousef are the leading candidates among the security prisoners in Israeli jails who are running in the Palestinian Legislative Council elections.”
