General Lehnert speaks

Michael Lehnert is the Commding General of Marine Corps Installations West; his informative Wikipedia entry is accessible here. Earlier this week reader Tom Barry forwarded us the text of the speech given by General Lehnert on July 5 before a San Diego audience. General Lehnert had just come from his son’s graduation from Stanford the week before; his speech begins at the Stanford commencement and opens up to a powerful consideration of the nature of the service and sacrifice of our Marines at war in Iraq.

Yesterday the American Thinker posted General Lehnert’s speech: “General Lehnert speaks (and is well worth listening to).” General Lehnert’s speech deserves the widest possible readership; I commend it to your attention.
