Crazy brave

We went to see the film “World Trade Center” this evening. I recommend it. Watching the film, I learned the story of former Marine Staff Sergeant Dave Karnes for the first time; I regret not having heard of him before. We should all know his inspirational story, just as we should all know the story of Rick Rescorla. Unlike Rescorla, Karnes is not a legend; he still walks among us. Slate published a good account by Rebecca Liss of Karnes’s almost unbelievable story: “An unlikely hero.” (Don’t read it until after you see the movie if you intend to see it.)
