Where Not to Go for Sports News

Years ago, when Paul and I were college roommates, I used to read the New York Times. Paul preferred the Washington Post, his home-town paper, largely because, as he said, the Times had the most astonishingly lame sports section of any major metropolitan daily. That hasn’t changed much; from today’s Corrections section in the Times:

An entry in the News Summary on Saturday misstated the name of the team that the St. Louis Cardinals defeated to win the World Series. It was the Detroit Tigers, not the Detroit Lions.

I only wish the Times’s coverage of politics were better than its coverage of sports.
