Who Won and Lost

Over the last few days, we’ve carried on a poll on our Power Line News site. Two polls, actually. The first question was, “Who will emerge from election 2006 with enhanced stature, no matter the results on Tuesday?” The second: “Who will emerge from election 2006 with reduced stature, no matter the results on Tuesday?”
With over 1,000 votes cast in each category, a remarkable degree of consensus emerged. Fifty-five percent answered that the person who came out of the election cycle with the most enhanced stature, win or lose, was Michael Steele. And fifty percent said that the biggest loser of the cycle–no matter that his party won–was John Kerry.
It’s hard to argue with those judgments. Steele has a bright future. Kerry has a bright future too, only not in politics.
