Next Up: John McCain on My Space

The Mitt Romney campaign announced today that it has established a new beachhead in cyberspace:

Today, the Romney for President Exploratory Committee launched the official Facebook profile for Governor Romney. Governor Mitt Romney is the first potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate to have a Facebook profile.

Here is a partial screen shot of Romney’s Facebook page; click to enlarge:

Romney’s Facebook initiative is expected to increase his support among teenage and pre-teen girls. Among the interesting information about Mitt is this description of his favorite music:

Roy Orbison, The Beatles, The Eagles, The Kingston Trio, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, Clint Black, and Garth Brooks

Sounds good to me; it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who still remembers the Kingston Trio. His favorite books are less revealing; only one novel, Huckleberry Finn, and lots of management stuff.
I’ll catch up with my daughters later on, and get a more definitive assessment of Mitt’s Facebook entry.
UPDATE: David All thinks it’s a good idea. More important–no offense, David–so do my daughters. They say it’s not lame; all Facebook pages look like that. Now, if only 16-year-olds could vote.
