A bad loser

The Congressional Research Service has done an analysis of U.S. Attorneys who have served less than full four-year terms since 1981. The study shows that very few U.S. Attorneys have been dumped before their term expired, absent a change in presidential administration.
I consider the study irrelevant. If, for example, a prosecutor in San Diego is lax when it comes to enforcing the immigration laws, that prosecutor should be replaced regardless of what prior administration’s have done. This administration needs to be firing more, not fewer, appointees who are performing poorly and/or not following legitimate administration policy initiatives.
But the CRS Report did produce this tidbit: Kendall Coffey, Bill Clinton’s appointee as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, steppped down “amid accusations that he bit a toples dancer on the arm during a visit to an adult club after losing a big drug case.”
