The Politico reports that the White House is seeking replacements for Attorney General Gonzales. Notwithstanding the fact that the White House appears to be ignoring Paul Mirengoff’s advice, I think Paul would make a good replacement.
PAUL adds: No thanks, Scott.
If Gonzales lied to Congress, he has to go of course. If he merely didn’t know what his aide was up to, there would be nothing wrong with firing him for that, either. But, as the Politico report suggests, the Dems are going to run with this, regardless. So if I were Bush, I’d stand by the Attorney General whatever Republican Senators might think of him, unless the next batch of emails (or other evidence) further undermines Gonzales’ position.
