Sexual politics

The Washington Post reports that the Hillary Clinton camp is rejecting any suggestion that Segolene Royal’s defeat has any implications for Clinton’s prospects to become our first female president. As I argued yesterday, Hillary’s camp is probably right. Clinton is the anti-Segolene.
It’s possible she may pay a price for tilting so far to the other extreme, and that the price may have a gender-based component. But that remains to be seen.
