Craig Thomas, RIP

Wyoming’s Senator Craig Thomas died of leukemia yesterday at age 74. He was reelected from a hospital bed this past November with 70 percent of the vote. He originally entered Congress by special election in 1989 as Dick Cheney’s successor in the House of Representatives. The AP story on his death carries quotes from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi and Governor Dave Freudenthal, who will select Senator Thomas’s successor under Wyoming law from a list submitted by the state Republican Party. RIP.
